News: Sales of flavored vaping products outlawed in Ventura, unincorporated areas

Sales of flavored vaping products were banned in unincorporated areas of Ventura County in the same week they were outlawed in Ventura. The Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday passed a prohibition affecting about four dozen stores from El Rio to Oak Park after a heated hearing at the Ventura County Government Center in Ventura. The ban in unincorporated areas applies to vaping products with the flavors of fruit and candy that youths favor, county officials said. Tobacco-flavored vaping products, which are used by some adults to kick their cigarette habits, were exempted.

The city and county bans both affect retail outlets, while Ventura has taken the additional step of banning online sales within city limits. Adults age 21 and over can legally buy vaping products in California, but advocates of the ban believe sales of the sweet-flavored versions should be shut down because youths are enticed by them.
